But Lord, You know these things...

girl resting in God's love

Day after day this phrase calms me.

As life’s obstacles overwhelm me, I say it again and again.

“But Lord, You know these things.”

So many things in the future that must be solved and carried out.

“But Lord, You know these things.”

Each day things present themselves that are out of my control.

“But Lord, You know these things.”

So many hurts that make my heart break.

“But Lord, You know these things.”

So many spiritual lessons to learn that I don’t know how to tackle.

“But Lord, You know these things.”

So many mental and physical limitations to work through.

“But Lord, You already know these things.”

He knows them and is not overwhelmed by them.

He knows them and still has perfect contentment.

He knows them and will not forget them.

He knows them and died for me anyway.

He knows them but still draws near.

He knows them and puts them all together to make something beautiful.

He knows me.  He knows me.  He knows me……
I am so grateful.

Excerpts from Psalm 139

O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.

Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising,
thou understandest my thought afar off.

Thou compassest my path and my lying down,
and art acquainted with all my ways.

For there is not a word in my tongue,
but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.

Thou hast beset me behind and before,
and laid thine hand upon me.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

If I take the wings of the morning,
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
Even there shall thy hand lead me,
and thy right hand shall hold me.

Search me, O God, and know my heart:
try me, and know my thoughts:

And see if there be any wicked way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
